is a non-profit educational organization established in 1975 in Hillsboro, Oregon. ACP has over a thirty-year history of providing affordable, accessible, and high quality education, childcare, and family advocacy services to low-income families. ACP was one of the first educational organizations in Washington County to establish a bilingual and bicultural preschool, before-after school and tutorial programs to serve the educational needs of low-income and single-parent Latino families. Today, the organization provides all-day bilingual educational childcare services for Beginners and Pre-school ages 2 ½ to 5 years old, Kindergarten Program and Before and After School Care Program for the ages of six to twelve years old, family advocacy and referral services for all low-income and single-parents and their children. Four nutritional meals are provided daily through our USDA program.
Since it's founding in 1975, A Child's Place has been one of the primary educational resources for hundreds of diverse low-income and single-parent families; in particular the Hispanic population in Washington County. By providing the children a safe environment conducive for learning and growing, ACP offers parents the opportunity and peace of mind to be able to go out and find a job, as well as, a loving abode to leave their children while at work.
Thankfully, and with such a passion to fulfill the educational needs of low-income and single parents and their children, ACP has been delighted with many successes through its innovative and imaginative programs for over 30 years. ACP has enhanced the lives of the children that attend the educational center and has provided an opportunity for their parents to go out and work, knowing that their children are being cared for and taught in the most culturally appropriate manner. ACP has gained the trust of a variety of foundations and has been awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to support its program. In July 2004, ACP was awarded a Community Development Block Grant from Washington County in the amount of $392,500 to renovate its current building. ACP also was awarded matching funds from a variety of private foundations totaling $168,580.
OUR VISION:
To provide a nurturing and enjoyable environment through creativity and education for children and families to achieve their full potential.
